The slit in the male contact provides a spring action for longer lifetime use. Furthermore, these CAM's have high conductivity causing a positive, vibration-proof connection when in use.  Special tools are not required when assembling and disassembling Leviton sleeves due to their fantastic design.  The contact inside the insulating sleeve is secured with a screw, causing assembly, disassembly, and field repairs to be extremely simple. The plugs also have plastic reinforced and locking rings molded into the insulated sleeves and receptacles, which ensures the reliability of the connection.
